Amazing Online Databases! (K-12)

When:  Tuesday, May 28, 2013 6:00-7:30pm

Where: South Salem High School Library

This seminar will provide you with the information that you and your child need to access district-purchased educational databases. These databases are FREE for all Salem-Keizer Public Schools students and parents. In this seminar you will learn:

¨ How to find thousands of magazine, encyclopedia and news articles which can be translated into 15 languages

¨ How to find and watch nearly 10,000 amazing online educational videos

¨ How to read the latest books online using a computer or tablet

You will also be provided with the opportunity for "hands-on" learning using these databases.

Rosetta Stone Full Year and Summer Try-It Language Enrichment Programs

The Talented and Gifted Services Department is happy to announce two great Rosetta Stone Language Enrichment Opportunities!

Full Year Enrichment Program-

  • Access to one language for one Salem-Keizer TAG Identified student from June 2013-June 2014 for $90.
  • Participants must supply thier own Rosetta Stone Compatible headset, have access to high speed internet and attend a mandatory training session on June 11th at South Salem High School.
  • Applications are available in English(English Application) and Spanish(Spanish Application)

Summer Try-It Enrichment Program-

  • Access to one language for one Salem-Keizer TAG Identified student from June 11, 2013-August 31, 2013 for $25.
  • Priority for this program is given to students who have not previously participated in the Rosetta Stone program.
  • Participants must have access to high speed internet and attend a mandatory training session on June 11th at South Salem High School.
  • Applications are available in English(English Application) and Spanish(Spanish Application).

LANGUAGES OFFERED: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, American English, Filipino (Tagalog), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Persian (Farsi), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (Latin American), Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese

Deadline:  Applications for both opprotunities must be in the TAG office by Friday May 17th at 5:00pm.

 

West High French Language and Culture Camp

Join West Salem High School French Staff and Students in a unique opportunity to experience French Culture. Children will learn useful French expressions, enjoy making French cuisine during snack, learn French songs, dances, and games; and learn about French culture through hands on creative activities. Come have FUN...French Style!

When: June 17-21, 1-3:30pm

Where: West Salem High School, 1776 Tital Dr. Salem, OR 97304

Who: For students entering Kindergarten through 9th grade beginning Fall of 2013

Cost:  $75 per student, includes t-shirt

Deadline: Applications are due May 31( registrations received after June 1st will have a $25 late fee)
