On Tuesday, October 9, staff and students at Hammond Elementary School had the opportunity to host a special birthday celebration. Our school is named for Mrs. Geraldine Hammond who celebrated her 80th birthday with us! Students and staff alike wore pink, Mrs. Hammond’s favorite color. Hammond students sang songs, cheered, and read poems and a biography highlighting Mrs. Hammond’s many accomplishments and contributions to education over the years.
Of course it wouldn’t be a birthday celebration without presents and Mrs. Hammond was presented with flowers, gifts, cards, and notes filled with birthday wishes. The guest of honor said she felt extremely pampered. As the assembly concluded, and students and teachers prepared to return to their classrooms, Mrs. Hammond thanked everyone for making her day as special as the Hammond students. Happy birthday, Mrs. Hammond!
