Maps Credit Union Business Partner of the Month
Maps Credit Union has demonstrated a long history of responding to the needs of the school district through business partnership activities at all levels of learning, both for the students and the teachers.
Last school year Maps expanded their partnership to support our schools in a way that demonstrated an even stronger public-private partnership. In their desire to make the greatest impact on the greatest number of students, Maps donated $50,000 to the school district for the 2011-2012 academic year. The funds were divided between the six high schools to help replace budget cuts to athletic programs.
They have generously made the donation again for the 2012-2013 academic year. We greatly appreciate the partnership and support that Maps Credit Union has given to Salem-Keizer Schools. Maps truly is a Premiere Sponsor of Salem-Keizer Public Schools.
Thank you and congratulations as our Business Partner of the Month!

Volunteer of the Month Westgate Church
Westgate Church is our Volunteer of the Month. The church was nominated by Brush College Elementary who considers the members fantastic volunteers.
Pastor Bob Swope and his church members have volunteered for the past several years at the school. They read to students on Read Across America Day, have gone in to help sort huge amounts of books, and when it’s carnival time this group of volunteers are there to lend a hand and contribute to the festivities. It doesn’t seem to matter how small the request, Pastor Bob and his team of volunteers are ready to lend a hand.
Staff are very thankful to these volunteers for the annual back to school lunch they provide for them. One luncheon in particular really stands out in the minds of staff. The church chartered a bus, loaded up all the school staff, and Pastor Bob, dressed in a tux, served hors d’oeuvres while acting as tour guide on their journey to a secret destination. The bus eventually arrived at their lunch spot, the church, where they were greeted with tables covered in white linen and candlelight. Volunteers served a wonderful meal and presented goody bags to each staff member before returning them to school. What a great way for staff to start out a new school year!
Westgate Church continues to provide volunteer help with projects for which Brush College staff and students are very grateful.
Congratulations!
