SKEF Book Blitz volunteers sort thousands of books

Submitted by Karma Krause on September 18, 2012 - 10:17am

Over 200 volunteers sorted and packed thousands of books at a Book Blitz at the Salem Keizer Education Foundation. The books were donated by Bazillion Books for Kids, a Portland based non-profit organization that wants to donate one million books to Oregon children.

Volunteers came from many local organizations including McDonald's, NW Natural, Salem Hospital, and others.

SKEF will hold more book sorting events in the future. The goal is to sort and distribute 400,000 books to students in Salem-Keizer Public Schools. Each of the district's 40,000 students will receive 10 free books.
