Updates on the new schools

Battle Creek Elementary School and Chávez Elementary School will open for students in September. Bond construction workers are busy getting everything ready at the new schools for the beginning of the 2012-13 school year.

Battle Creek Elementary is expected to have an enrollment of 480 students, with Chávez Elementary's enrollment at around 580 students. The new schools, one located in south Salem and one in east Salem, are being built with funds from the $242.1 million construction bond approved by voters in 2008.

The videos below provide an update on the construction process.

Open houses at each school will take place near the end of summer vacation, just before the start of school. Details on the open houses will be finalized and posted at a later time.
