Full house at the Education Fair

Over 200 applicants attended this year's Education Fair and participated in interviews with district administrators at the Salem Conference Center on January 31.
Energy and excitement filled the rooms at the Salem Conference Center on Saturday, January 31, during the district's Education Fair. Over 200 attendees came to find out more information about working for our district and to participate in interviews with district administrators.
“The Salem-Keizer Public Schools Education Fair is our biggest recruiting event,” said Susana Ghio, recruiting specialist. “Our administrators have an opportunity to meet the student teachers that are currently placed at our schools and this event also attracts candidates throughout Oregon as well as from other states.”
Graduates, teachers, student-teachers, and other job-seekers started the event with a breakfast and a welcoming message by Superintendent Sandy Husk. Afterward, they lined up to wait for their chance to be interviewed by district staff.
“The Educator Fair increases our applicant pool and we are able to recruit the best candidates early in the hiring season,” said Ghio. “I enjoy the energy our administrators bring by making the participants feel that 24J is the best place to live, teach, and grow.”
