Salem-Keizer students! Submit your writing and have it published in the Statesman Journal this summer. The publication is called Student Stories (see archived copies at http://www.salemkeizer.org/content/student-stories), and we need content to fill the August issue.

Here are the guidelines:

AUGUST - Back-to-School Hopes and Dreams

Short stories, poems and artwork all featuring our students hopes, fears, and dreams about starting a new school year. Any hesitation about moving from middle to high school? Any excitement to start a new class or reunite with classmates? Send those stories in! Short stories need to be under 500 words. For artwork, e-mail a scan (at least 300 dpi) or send the original to Salem-Keizer's administrative office located at 2450 Lancaster Dr. NE, Suite 206.

Please - make sure the student's name and grade are listed with each submission.

DEADLINE: Wednesday, August 5 by 5 p.m. (but the sooner the better!)

IF YOU HAVE a short story or artwork that DOES NOT fit into these categories, submit it anyway. We can run it as a special feature.

Please note that the publication has limited space and some submissions might not be selected for print; however, we make every effort to include as many stories as we can. 

Also, student writing is not edited for spelling or grammar... the writing is published as it is submitted by the student so please proofread before submitting.
