Gubser thanks volunteers and launches Beautification Day
On Friday April 24, many of the wonderful Gubser Elementary School volunteers were thanked and apprecieted by all students and staff through a Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony.

Volunteers were treated by a student program that included songs from the fourth and fifth grade choir and a thank you poem, followed by a reception with refreshments.
On Saturday, April 25th, over 100 volunteers took over Gubser Elementary School, transforming the school grounds on the first annual Gubser Beautification Day.
The school, once filled with overgrown weeds and leaves, went through a transformation to tidy flower beds with new shrubs and flowers.
Some of the projects included 33 yards of soil and bark dust spread throughout the grounds, sidewalks power washed clean, grass edging and the hauling away of piles of unneeded debris.
Help arrived from many community groups, including Cub Scout Pack #41, Countryside Christian Church, the Keizer Elks Club, Keizer Rotary Members, The Gubser Neighborhood Association, and many Salem-Keizer businesses. Neighbors, students, parents, and even former students, showed up to lend a hand.
Mindy Ellis, Gubser parent and Cub Scout Pack 41 chairperson stated, “Everybody worked so hard. The kids were all right in there working with the adults.”
