The McNary Area Fifth Grade Honor Choir Concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23 in the McNary Auditorium. Our honor choir as well as the concert choirs from McNary, Whiteaker, and Claggett Creek will perform.
Honor choir is an auditioned choir made up of fifth graders from the McNary feeder schools. The students are chosen by the schools’ music teachers based on singing ability and musical experience.
The purpose of honor choir is to trifold: to give students an opportunity to expand their musical skills, to give students a window into choral music throughout the years of middle school and high school and to provide the community a window into the quality music education occurring at all grade levels.
These students have been rehearsing with the other schools’ members and the area music teachers three days a week after school at McNary High School.
The concert will conclude around 8:15 p.m. Honor choir students will perform with a combined choir from all those choirs at the end of the concert. Admission is free. Auditorium doors will remain closed until 6:30 so that the choirs can rehearse the final number together in the auditorium.
This event is a high point of the year in that over 400 students are involved from fifth-12th grades. The combined song at the end of the concert is always moving and meaningful!
Please plan to attend the McNary-Area Honor Choir performance!
