About Us

Our 47 elementary schools provide high-quality educational services to over 20,000 students each day.  Although each school is unique, there is tremendous pride in our consistency in instruction. Visitors in any of our schools will find a uniting school improvement plan that is aligned to the district Strategic Plan. They will see an unrelenting focus on supporting the individualized needs of all students. They will sense a healthy urgency to ensure that all students make academic gains.

Visitors will also notice a distinct quality in how we teach. A Comprehensive Literacy Model unites classrooms in practice ensuring that children not only learn how to read and write, but become so proficient at doing so that literacy becomes a part of their day to day life. Teachers are working together in teams to determine what to teach, how to teach it and what to do when things don’t work out. Assessments are used day to day to ensure that every child moves, every child grows, and every child gets noticed.

Amazing things are happening in our Salem-Keizer Schools. Just have a visit and watch us go!
