District Committees
Page updated November 18, 2009
These are districtwide committees that are usually requested or appointed by the Salem-Keizer School Board. They often report their work directly to the board.
Citizen Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC)
The Citizen Bond Oversight Committee is a subcommittee of the School Board. The Oversight Committee monitors the planning and progress of bond projects to ensure that are finished on-time and within budget, and meet the expectations of the voter-approved construction bond program.
Citizen Budget Committee (CBC)
The district's Citizen Budget Committee is made up of seven citizens, appointed by the School Board, and all School Board members. The committee is an advisory group established by statute. The group has several purposes. It conducts public meetings to hear the budget message and reviews the budget proposed by the Superintendent. One of its most important purposes is to listen to comments and questions from interested citizens. The committee considers this input as it deliberates on the budget. The committee can revise the proposed budget to reflect changes it wants to make in the District's fiscal policy. When the committee is satisfied, it recommends a budget to the School Board for approval. The School Board must approve a budget by June 30 of each year.
Equity Advisory Committee (EAC)
The Equity Advisory Committee gives District staff, students, parents and community members an opportunity to address their concerns about equity in all facets of Salem-Keizer operations and reports directly to the Superintendent.
Professional Action Committee for Education (PACE)
Every month, a group of 20 district leaders meet to communicate about issues and concerns in the school district. This group is called PACE.
Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC)
The council was formed in the summer of 2001 to serve as a connection between parents of special needs students and Salem-Keizer staff. The council has 17 members, 9 of which must be parents of special needs children. The rest is made up of school district personnel, agencies and other interested parties.
