Crystal Apple Awards 2012 nominees announced

The list of nominees is now available for the 16th annual Crystal Apple Awards on November 8 at the Elsinore Theatre in downtown Salem.

Forty-four local educators have been nominated for the awards, which celebrate educational excellence in Salem and Keizer. 

The 2012 list of nominees includes teachers, counselors, instructional assistants, office managers and administrators. Of the 44 nominees, 40 are employees of Salem-Keizer Public Schools and four are from private schools.

Between now and the event, a Crystal Apple delegation will visit each nominee's work place to present a nomination certificate and a bag filled with gifts of congratulations from local businesses.

The Crystal Apple Awards ceremony will again feature a red carpet walk for nominees with two new faces to greet them, Kelli Swanson Jaecks and Dr. Ronald Jaecks.

Kelli Jaecks is a nationally published author and speaker on health issues. Ronald Jaecks has been a general surgeon for over 24 years.

This year will be the third annual Crystal Apple Business Award. This award honors a community organization that uses business best practices, innovation, and leadership to engage a school community to support student achievement.

Tickets are on sale now. They can be purchased at the Elsinore Box Office, by phone at 503-375-3574, online at www.ticketwest.com, and at all Tickets West locations.

For those who cannot attend the live event, it is scheduled to be shown on Capitol Community Television channel 22 on Comcast Cable from 6 p.m. on the night of the event. It is also scheduled to be live streamed on the CCTV website: http://www.cctvsalem.org

The 2012 Crystal Apple Awards are presented by the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation in cooperation with Salem-Keizer Public Schools, Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the Keizer Chamber of Commerce.
