Citizen Budget Committee needs two new members
Two vacancies exist at this time for the Citizen Budget Committee. Terms are from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2012. Committee members will review and recommend budgets for adoption by the Salem-Keizer School Board for fiscal years 2010–11, 2011–12 and 2012–13.
Vacancies for the Salem-Keizer School District Citizen Budget Committee are open to all qualified registered voters of the district; except officers, agents or employees of the district. Each candidate must be a resident of Salem-Keizer School District 24J. A specific geographical location in the district is not a legal requirement, but the school board does try to maintain a representative balance from all areas of the district.
The school board will interview budget committee candidates at its regular business meeting on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Typically, the board makes appointments at the same meeting. Candidates should be prepared to explain, in three minutes or less, why they are interested in serving on the committee. The board may ask the candidates additional questions. Applicants who cannot attend should provide a written statement to the board.
In addition to the regular budget meetings in April and May, the committee will also be attending a monthly school board work session on the fourth Tuesday of each month to discuss budget items with the board. The meetings will be at 6:00 p.m. in the board room of the Student Services Center at 2575 Commercial Street NE, Salem.
