Scott's Cycle
School Partner: Highland Elementary
Scott's Cycle has joined forces with community members, Bill & Gail Bonniksen and Don & Sally Hopkins, to help motivate students of Highland Elementary School to improve their academic achievement.
The Bonniksen's and the Hopkins' donate a monthly sum of $150 to Scott's Cycle to purchase bikes to be awarded to two students every other month at Highland's Homework Assembly. Scott Cycle donates a bike helmet and all labor to custom fit and assemble the bikes for each recipient, making the experience unique and special for Highland's hardworking students.
Students are required to turn in their homework to their classroom teachers in order to get a ticket to participate. It is important for this team to give the bikes under the condition of student achievement and not just attendance or behavior. It is the aim to let children know that there are people in the community that care about their learning and are expecting that they do their homework and continue learning at school.
Our students have and continue to benefit from this team. Ten bikes will be given away during the 07-08 school year.
