Construction workers are busy across Salem and Keizer repairing 26 schools this summer.
When parents drop students off for the first day of school in September, the outsides of many buildings will have fresh coats of paint, repaired exterior walls, fixed roofs and parking lots. Inside, the schools will have repaired floors, ceilings, plumbing, heating/cooling and venilation systems.

The repair work means 14 school campuses are closed for the summer, and office staff at those schools are in temporary summer locations.
About Bond Construction
The improvements to Salem-Keizer schools are funded through the $242.1 million construction bond approved by the community in 2008.
Bond funds invested in our schools help create safer, cleaner, less-crowded learning environments for students. Thank you, Salem-Keizer community for supporting student learning and the 2008 bond measure.
